Vision Statement
ICHP dedicates itself to achieving a vision of pharmacy practice where:
- Pharmacists are universally recognized as health care professionals and essential providers of health care services.
- Pharmacists use their medication expertise and leadership skills to optimize the medication use process and patient outcomes.
- Pharmacy technicians are trained and PTCB certified to manage the medication distribution process.
Our Student Chapter Mission
The mission of UIC ICHP is to increase student awareness of pharmacy practice in health systems, provide information to students about career decisions and credentials needed for pharmacy practice in health-systems, and encourage membership and participation in the state society and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists as a student and upon graduation.
What does ICHP membership offer?
The UIC student chapter of ICHP is one of two student affiliates of ICHP/ASHP. The other affiliate can be found at Midwestern Chicago College of Pharmacy. Students enjoy many of the membership benefits that registered pharmacists receive as members of ICHP as well as ASHP.
Mentorship Program: As an ICHP member, you are automatically enrolled in the mentorship program, which offers you the opportunity to shadow pharmacists from different fields of pharmacy such as clinical, industry, and many more!
Leadership opportunities such as the ICHP student chapter on local level, the ICHP Committees on state level, and the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum advisory boards on national level. Membership in the Student Forum provides students with practical tools and programs especially designed for pharmacy students. There are also plenty of opportunities to serve with us as a member of our Professional Activities Committee (PAC). There are positions available for P1s!
Hospital visits to Chicagoland area health-systems such as UIC, Rush, Northwestern, the Jesse Brown VA, and many others!
Free subscriptions to ICHP KeePosted Quarterly Newsletter, American Journal of Health-System Pharmacists, and the ASHP e-newsletter!
The opportunity to get involved and grow in your career!
